New! Information Systems and Security Hybrid Program

Information Systems students now have the option to come to school Monday-Thursday and Friday work online, therefore reducing the length of their program.

El Paso, TX- Western Technical College proudly presents the NEW Information Systems and Security Program. Beginning now, prospect students that are interested in enrolling in the Associates of Applied Science Degree, will be able to finish in just 22 months for the morning (8:00 AM-12:00 PM), afternoon (1:00 PM-5:00 PM) and evening (6:00 PM-10:00 PM) schedules! This means that they will have class at the Western Technical College Diana Campus from Monday thru Thursday and will work Friday online having the opportunity to submit assignments due for the next week on Sunday by 11:59 PM. In the past, the program lasted 25 months for the morning and afternoon schedules and 29 months for the evening starts. This is a tremendous advantage for our students because in today’s competitive world, especially in the Information Systems sector, students are looking to graduate in a shorter amount of time.

“We were able to make some changes to our curriculum which will benefit our students. The hands-on education that we are recognized for is not going to be compromised. The program will continue with approximately 50% hands-on and 50% academics necessary to succeed in the industry,” said Program Director Kenneth Pivarnick. “Furthermore, the mandatory internship will remain at 160 hours so our students can put in practice what they have learned here. We will continue to include a monetary allowance in the program so the students can pay for their industry certification exams”, Mr. Pivarnick added.

The Information Systems and Security program is only offered at the Diana Campus located in El Paso’s northeast. The program is all inclusive, in addition to the hands-on education, the students receive the following in the cost of the program: uniforms, books, laptop, flash drive, tool kit, backpack, certification allowance, tutoring, internship and the opportunity to be interviewed by local and out of town companies looking for skilled individuals to become part of their workforce.
